About Colles Portal
The Colles Portal is an innovative, web-based system designed to support the training and assessment of surgical trainees in Ireland.
The introduction of the portal in 2010 will mean that from any web-enabled computer, all the key stakeholders can access the required information and complete all the steps necessary to support surgical training. This significant accomplishment will include over 1,200 users, who will vary from Trainees, to Trainers and Programme Directors, the Medical Council, the Specialty Advisory Committees, and the HSE Medical Manpower Managers. The portal will provide different functionality to each of these user groups and for first time will enable these groups to collaborate using a single tool.
The portal's key functionality is in the areas of trainee assessments, training post management and inspections, the allocation or matching trainees to training posts, committee management and the management of Continuous Medical Education.
In preparation for the portal's launch in 2010, over the next three months this website will provide further demonstrations of the portal's key functionality for each stakeholder group and the details for upcoming web-based training sessions.
